GREENVILLE, South Carolina – Junior
Lyberty Anderson posted a season-best round of 71 as UNCW finished the second round of the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational in 16th place at the Furman University Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.
The Seahawks recorded a season-best 301 team score after opening the tournament with a 303 mark on Friday. Texas moved into a tie with host Furman for first place after firing a 284 team score.
"I am proud of the team for keeping their composure, especially considering we didn't get off to a very good start this morning by going 6-over par on our first hole of the round," Coach
Cindy Ho said. "We hung in there during the middle of the round and played very well until the last two par-4 holes, which are difficult."
Anderson, who recorded her first sub-par round of the season, carded four birdies in the second round, including a birdie on the 11th and 12th holes. She will enter the final round in a tie for 35th place.
"Lyberty had a great round to help us today," said the Seahawks' long-time coach. "Her length is such an advantage on this course and she hit some tight approach shots, which led to more birdie chances today that she capitalized on."

Kayla Thompson holds a share of 57th place after posting a 5-over par score while freshman
My Nguyen moved into a tie for 69th place following a 3-over par round.

Alaina Yeatts is also tied for 69th place with a two-round score of 154 while sophomore
Ellinoora Moisio holds a share of 81st place after shooting an 80 in the second round.
"It would be really good for our confidence if we finish off strong tomorrow and move up a few spots," Ho said. "We just need to be better in some areas and limit some mistakes that are keeping us from shooting some even par rounds."
