Volleyball Preview: Campbell


WILMINGTON, North Carolina – With a six-match winning streak in hand, UNCW hosts longtime rival Campbell on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. start at Hanover Hall.

The Seahawks and Camels have met 46 times since the series began in 1986 and UNCW holds a 31-15 lead.

UNCW swept through the North Texas Invitational last weekend, picking up win against Indiana State, Louisiana and host North Texas. The Seahawks picked up their third tournament championship in as many outings this season.

Junior middle hitter Sydney Brock helped lead the charge, earning tournament most valuable player honors and was joined by Alyssa Desjardins and Nicole Lott on the all-tournament team. Brock hit an even .500 for the weekend and was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player-of-the-Week for the first time.

Campbell dropped 2-of-3 last weekend in its own tournament, posting a win against South Carolina State. The Camels were picked to finish fourth in the Big South Conference preseason poll.

Following Tuesday's match, the Seahawks head to Durham and Raleigh for matches against Duke and NC State this weekend.
