Second Round Tee Times
CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – Junior
Lyberty Anderson carded a 5-over par round of 77 as UNCW opened play at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational with the opening round at the UNC Finley Golf Course on Friday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who shot a 315 team score, finished the first round in 18th place. Wake Forest took the early lead after firing a 6-under par score of 282 for a one-stroke lead over Ohio State.
"It was a challenging day mentally for us," Head CoachÂ
Cindy Ho said. "With very little chance to practice over the last week due to Hurricane Matthew, we didn't look confident today. It's tough trying to play when you feel your game isn't sharp enough in such a big tournament. With two rounds left, the goal is to find a way to manage our game well enough to move up."
Anderson finished the opening round in a tie for 68th place while sophomore
Ellinoora Moisio followed in a share of 76th place after finishing with a 6-over par round of 78.
Junior
Alaina Yeatts is tied for 86th place after shooting a 79 in the first round while junior
Kayla Thompson posted an 81 for a share of 92nd place.
Freshman
My Nguyen rounded out the Seahawks' contingent by posting an 82 in the first round.
