WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The Seahawks enter their second week of play on Friday when they head up I40 to Buies Creek, N.C., for a 7 p.m. start against longtime rival Campbell on the first day of the Hampton Inn & Suites Invitational.

Joining the Seahawks and host Camels in rounding out the field are Norfolk State and Sacramento State. UNCW will play those two programs on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively.

UNCW opened its season with a tournament win at the Big Orange Bash, hosted by Clemson. The Seahawks swept Clemson in the season opener for both teams and finished off the weekend with wins over Appalachian State and Charleston Southern.

Colonial Athletic Association offensive player-of-the-week Kristen Powell was the tournament's most valuable player and was joined on the all-tournament team by fellow juniors Alyssa Desjardins and Nicole Lott. For Powell, both the CAA and tournament honors were the first of her career.

Friday's match with the host Camels (2-2) will be the 46th edition of the series with UNCW holding a 30-15 advantage in the series. Campbell carries a modest two-match winning streak into the match after sweeping both Grambling and North Carolina A&T.

Sacramento State stands at 3-1 entering the weekend following a 3-1 win over visiting CSU Bakersfield earlier this week. Norfolk State, meanwhile, is winless at 0-3 after being swept at the Tribe Invitational last weekend in Williamsburg.

UNCW will take a break from tournament play the following weekend when it visits ACC powers North Carolina and Duke. The two matches open a brief stretch for the Seahawks where they'll play three road matches against three NCAA tournament teams. That stretch ends on Sept. 15 at defending Big South champion, Coastal Carolina.
