VolleyHawks Head To Coastal Carolina For Mid-Week Tilt

Match Notes | Link to Video Stream
WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW closes out a formidable road swing Tuesday when the Seahawks head to Conway, S.C., for a non-conference tilt with defending Big South champion Coastal Carolina.

The Seahawks (6-2) close out a rugged three-match road swing that included road matches against the teams that made the NCAA tournament last season. The Chanticleers (5-2) earned their invitation to the postseason by winning their conference championship.

UNCW senior Lindsay Hartmann was named CAA Defensive Player-of-the-Week after totaling 41 digs against UNC and Duke last week. Hartmann held match-high honors with 25 against the Tar Heels in UNCW's five-set win. She ranks third in the CAA in digs, averaging 5.12 per set.

The Seahawks hold a 33-22 lead in the all-time series after winning in four sets last year at Hanover Hall.

Coastal Carolina will be playing its first match at home Tuesday night after competing in the season-opening Marriott Atlanta Midtown Invitational and the Florida State tournament last weekend. The Chants have played two matches against the ACC, topping Georgia Tech in five and falling three at Florida State.

UNCW will finally open home play when it hosts the Courtyard by Marriott Classic beginning on Friday. The Seahawks take on Presbyterian at 7:30 p.m. while Maryland Eastern Shore and Stetson open the tournament at 5 p.m. Admission for the tournament is free.
