WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's basketball team wraps up a fruitful January early Saturday by putting its four-game winning streak on the line in an afternoon matchup against conference rival Drexel at the cozy Daskalakis Center.

The Seahawks, 12-8 overall and 7-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association, are the hottest team in the league. Coach Kevin Keatts and his club have won seven of nine contests in the first month of league play after being picked to finish ninth out of 10 teams in the preseason.

UNCW is coming off an 82-65 dismantling of state rival Elon on Wednesday at Trask Coliseum. The Seahawks led by as many as 30 points in the contest and cruised to the easy win behind 50 percent shooting from the floor, including 7-of-14 from long distance.

Coupled with Drexel's upset of preseason CAA favorite Northeastern on Wednesday, the victory left the Seahawks tied with William & Mary atop the CAA leaderboard. The Tribe controlled Hofstra from the opening tip in an impressive demolition of the Pride in another Wednesday tilt.

The Seahawks and Dragons (6-14, 4-5) are playing for the second time this season. UNCW snapped a five-game losing streak to James "Bruiser" Flint's club with a 64-57 verdict three weeks ago on Jan. 10 in Wilmington. Senior guard Freddie Jackson poured in 19 points and Addison Spruill added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Seahawks shot 57.9 percent in the second half and 52.4 percent overall.

Like most CAA clubs this season, UNCW had difficulty containing high-scoring junior guard Damien Lee of Drexel. The 2013 CAA Rookie-of-the-Year paced all scorers with 32 points on 10-of-15 from the floor and 10-of-15 at the charity stripe.

The silky-smooth Lee leads the CAA in point production with 21.2 points per game in front of William & Mary's Marcus Thornton (19.3 ppg) and Hofstra's Ameen Tanksley (17.9 ppg). Jackson, a former New Hanover High School product, currently ranks fifth in the CAA in scoring with 14.6 ppg.

The Seahawks and Dragons are meeting for the 25th time. The Seahawks own a 13-11 advantage in the series, but Drexel has won nine of the last 12 matchups. UNCW won 10 of the first 12 games in the series, including five straight at one point, before DU bounced back to control recent pairings.

The 2,509-seat Daskalakis Center has been a challenging venue for the Seahawks through the years, claiming six of the 10 meetings between the two teams in the City of Brotherly Love. The Dragons have won two in a row and four of the last five matchups on their home court.

The game will be the sixth afternoon start of the season for the Seahawks, who stand 1-4 in day games and 11-4 in night outings this season.

Following Saturday's clash, the Seahawks return home briefly before heading to the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia to take on James Madison on Wednesday in a 7 p.m. tilt at the JMU Convocation Center.
