WILMINGTON, North Carolina - As the start of the 2015 UNCW softball season draws near, UNCWSports.com wants fans to get a chance to know the players before the season opener on Feb. 13 with a new feature called "Around the Bases."
In this edition, we take a look at junior outfielder
Brittanne Gasser, a transfer from the University of Central Florida. As a sophomore, the Sterling, Va. native played in 17 games for the Knights while making four starts. She hit a two-run home run as a pinch hitter against Iona for the first home run of her college career.
UNCWSports.com: Why did you choose to attend UNCW?
BG: I had heard a lot of great things about Coach Norton and what she wants to do with the program. I love the location and it has a perfect major offered for what I want to do in the future.

UNCWSports.com: What are some community activities you or your team have done?
BG: One thing we did that I really enjoyed was working with special needs athletes and playing games with them.

UNCWSports.com: What is your intended or declared major and why did you choose that major?
BG: Recreation, Sports Management, and Tourism Hospitality - I chose it because I want to be an event planner.

BG: Being an event planner and focusing on weddings mostly.

UNCWSports.com: If you could play another sport at UNCW, what would it be and why?
BG: Basketball because I have played it along with softball for most of my life.

UNCWSports.com: Which teammate will have the most interesting job in 10 years and why?
BG: Sarah Davis because has a really big vocabulary.

UNCWSports.com: What animal would best describe you and why?
BG: A dog (specifically my dog) because we basically think the same.

UNCWSports.com: What is your favorite quote or phrase?
BG: Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.

UNCWSports.com: What is your favorite type of food (i.e. Chinese, Mexican, Italian etc.)?
BG: Pizza

UNCWSports.com: Favorite place you have visited or traveled to and why?
BG: I traveled to Europe last summer and I loved it all but Venice, Italy has to be my favorite place because it was gorgeous!

BG: Ed Westwick (aka Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl) because I'm his number one fan!!!

BG: By planning the wedding of their dreams!

BG: I can pick up more things than the average person with my toes.

BG: Go to Greece because I am obsessed with the movie Mama Mia.

BG: Impersonating Elmo.

BG: Cute emergency because it posts the cutest picture of pups and kittens.

BG: When people scrape their teeth with their forks when they take a bite because it gives me chills.

BG: Throw up and heights.

UNCWSports.com: What is an obstacle you had to overcome in your life?
BG: When I tore my ACL my sophomore year in high school which was a prime time to be recruited but I had to work 100 times harder in order to be better then what I was before I was injured and I had to do it quickly to get recruited.
