BROOKLINE, Mass. -
UNCW pitchers Tyler McSwain and Mat Batts tossed complete games as the Seahawks
swept host Northeastern, 7-3 and 7-2, on Saturday in Colonial Athletic
Association action at Friedman Diamond.
The Seahawks, who extended their winning streak to a modest
three games, improved to 23-16 with the twinbill sweep and 14-3 in the league.
The Huskies dropped to 14-20 and 4-13.
Sunday's finale has been moved to 11 a.m. in anticipation of
inclement weather rolling up the east coast.
In the opener, McSwain (6-2) allowed three runs on seven
hits and a walk. He fanned seven and lowered his ERA to 3.92. McSwain now needs
just one more win to become the 12th Seahawks to reach the 20 career win mark.
Batts (3-4) turned in UNCW's second complete game effort of
the day and season in the nightcap. The lefthander struck out a career-high 10
batters while allowing two runs on seven hits. Batts did not issue a free pass
on the afternoon.

with the losses for the Huskies. Leenhouts finished with nine strikeouts and
allowed four runs, one earned, over six innings. Berger, meanwhile, was tagged
for three runs on six hits and a pair of walks in five innings of work.
Corey Dick powered the Seahawks in game one with two hits, including
his fourth round tripper of the season, and three runs batted in. Hunter Ridge
added two hits and scored three runs in the opening game win. Ridge belted his
first homer of the season.
UNCW turned to Matt Campbell and Andrew Cain in the second
game, each coming up with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored each.
The Seahawks built a 3-0 lead after three innings and
extended it to 4-0 in the seventh on Cain's fourth homer of the season leading
off the inning.
NU cut its deficit in half on a two-run homer to right by
Jason Volser in the bottom of the seventh.
UNCW extended its lead to 7-2 with three in the eighth. Bass
and Campbell highlighted the outburst with a RBI triple and double,
respectively.
Rob Fonseca led NU with two hits in the second game while
Oliver Hart had two in the opener, including his second home run of the spring,
a two-run shot in the seventh.
The Seahawks swiped a season-high seven bases in the second
game and totaled 12 steals on the day. Cain stole five bases, including three
