WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Bolstered by a pair of wins on both sides, UNCW jumped out to the early lead in both the men's and women's meets on Friday at the annual UNCW Seahawks Invitational at the Greene Track Complex.
Erin Brennan and Meena Reid won the 5,000 meters and Long Jump, respectively, for the UNCW women while Aerial Chatman gave UNCW a sweep of the Long Jump with a win and Thomas DiCiaccio claimed top honors in the Hammer Throw.
Led by Brennan's time of 18:07.01, UNCW finished 1-2-3-4-5 in the 5,000 meters.
UNCW also won the top two spots in the Long Jump as Shelby Hall (5.46m) was nosed out by Reid (5.59m).
On the men's side, Chatman (7.24m) and Cameron Walton (7.17m) were first and second in the Long Jump, respectively.
The Seahawks turned the trick again in the Hammer Throw as DiCiaccio (51.96m) and Kyle Barbour (51.57m) topped the field.
The meet concludes on Saturday with the action ramping up at 10 a.m.
