OXFORD, Mississippi - UNCW's bullpen limited Ole Miss to one run over the final 6.1 innings, but the Rebels built an early 5-0 lead on their way to a 6-4 win over UNCW on Saturday at Swayze Field.

The Rebels raised their record to 4-1 with their third straight win, all at home, while the Seahawks dropped their third consecutive outing to fall to 2-4.

R.J. Hively (1-0) earned the win for the Rebels, allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He finished with nine strikeouts after fanning the first five hitters he faced to open the game. Brett Huber earned his second save of the series and third of the season allowing one hit in the ninth.

UNCW starter Tyler DeLoach lasted just 1.2 innings before being removed. He allowed four runs, three earned on four hits and three walks. DeLoach struck out two.

Auston Bousfield and Matt Snyder paced the UM lineup with three hits apiece. Snyder drove in a game high three runs.

Freshman Corey Dick, making his first collegiate start, and senior Jake Koenig had two hits apiece for UNCW.

After Hivey stuck out the side in the top of the first, Ole Miss wasted no time jumping on DeLoach as Snyder cleared the bases with a double to right. In the second a hit batter and a walk opened the inning for UM. A double steal put runners at second and third for Yarbough, who knocked in both runs with a single to right.

UNCW got on the board in the fifth with a one-out RBI single by Koening. The Seahawks would narrow their deficit in the sixth with three runs to make it 5-4. A two-out rally began with a Hunter Ridge single and he would come around to score on batter later when Thomas Pope tripled to left center. Pope would score on a wild pitch and Dick closed out the eruption with a RBI double to center field.

Ole Miss tacked on a run in the sixth for a 6-4 lead. Bousfield doubled in the final run of the game for either team.

Tom Timoney (2.1 IP, 2 H), Thomas Jones (1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R) and Kelly Secrest (2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 SO) gave the Seahawks the opportunity to rally, allowing just one run in the final seven innings.

The series concludes on Sunday with a 12 p.m. CST start.
