Novak Earns All-Region Honor From NSCAA

WILMINGTON, N.C. - UNC Wilmington junior midfielder Megan Novak has been named a Third-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

"Megan worked very hard during the off-season to come back from injury," said UNCW Head Coach Paul Cairney. "Her dedication paid off as she led us to our first-ever CAA Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. She is our leader and I know that she shares this honor with our entire program."

A native of College Park, Md., Novak was a Second-Team All-CAA pick after finishing second on the team in scoring with 12 points (5 G, 2 A). She was a key part in leading the program to its first CAA Tournament Championship and first NCAA Tournament appearance as she played in 21 of team's 22 games and made 12 starts in the midfield for coach Cairney's club.

Novak also paced the squad with three-game winning goals, including back-to-back winners in road victories against James Madison and Virginia Commonwealth that earned her CAA Co-Player-of-the-Week and Soccer America Team-of-the-Week honors.

Based in Kansas City, Kan., the NSCAA is the largest coaches' organization in the United States. Since its foundation in 1941, it has grown to include more than 23,000 members who coach both genders at all levels of the sport of soccer. In addition to a national rankings program for colleges and high schools, NSCAA offers an extensive recognition program that presents nearly 10,000 individual awards every year.
