WILMINGTON, N.C. – Sophomore Meg Umemoto was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week Monday following a two-goal performance in UNCW's 6-0 victory at Hampton on Sunday.

The forward played 52 minutes and scored twice in 11 minutes, becoming the only Seahawk to record multiple goals in the conference-opening victory.

Umemoto opened her scoring in the 69th minute with a goal from near midfield before finding the back of the net again in the 80th minute to cap UNCW's six unanswered goals.

With the victory, the Seahawks opened CAA play 1-0 and improved to 6-0-4 overall. The start ties the best in program history since 2004 and extends UNCW's regular-season unbeaten streak to 15 matches dating back to Sept. 12, 2025.

The Seahawks return to UNCW Soccer Stadium Thursday, Sept. 24, to host Monmouth in their second CAA matchup of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the match will air on FloCollege.
