Men's Soccer Lands Three on Preseason All-CAA Team

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Three UNCW men's soccer student-athletes were named to the Preseason All-Coastal Athletic Association Team while the Seahawks were projected to finish second in the CAA South Division, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

Midfielder Osei Gyamfi, along with Campbell transfer defender Jake Roberts and goalkeeper Trey Smiley were selected among the league's top players following a vote of the league's 10 head coaches. Forward Bryan Miralrio and defender Gavin Carmichael were tabbed as CAA Preseason Honorable Mentions.

UNCW earned one first-place vote in the coaches poll behind defending champion Elon. Charleston, Campbell and William & Mary rounded out the polling in the South Division while Hofstra was predicted to win the North Division.

Gyamfi, a 2025 All-CAA Second Teamer, scored three goals and added three assists as a sophomore looks to continue his rise after increasing his shot-on-goal accuracy by 13 percent across a career-high 38 attempts one season ago. 

Roberts, who joined the Seahawks in June, earned All-CAA Third-Team status last year with the Camels after starting all 20 matches. The 6-1 senior tied for the team lead with 1,763 minutes played and scored two goals off set pieces while leading the backline with seven shutouts.

Smiley started all 16 games in between the pipes for UNCW in 2025. The 6-4 netminder totaled 57 saves, including a season-high seven saves at William & Mary. 

Miralrio appeared in every contest last season with 10 starts. The 6-3 Arlington, Texas, native tallied four goals with three assists and produced a brace in a win at Campbell. 

Carmichael enters his second campaign in the Port City after starting all 16 matches in which the Drexel transfer scored a goal and added a pair of assists.

The Seahawks open the 2026 regular season on Thursday at UMBC at 7 p.m.
