Faieta Wins PGA Works Collegiate Championship

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida – UNCW women's golf freshman Alexis Faieta captured the Women's Individual crown of the 39th PGA Works Collegiate Championship (PWCC) at the Park in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Wednesday.

Faeita carded a 67-78-70=215 scorecard to beat Florida Atlantic's Carolin Alblas by five strokes at the three-day event. UNCW sophomore Valencia Chang rounded out the top three with a 79-71-72=222 score.

"Just such a high," said Faieta on the Golf Channel following her win. "It's been so fun, even regardless of my performance, just everything else has just been a blast. The course, the location, all the people. I just had an amazing week, and to win is just the cherry on top."

Faieta fashioned a four-under-par 67 score following Monday's opening round that featured an Eagle hole-out from the sand on Hole No. 14, which was featured on SportsCenter's Shot of the Day and was fourth on SC Top 10.

The PWCC was founded in 1986 to educate and inspire underserved and underrepresented minority-serving institutions and student-athletes to pursue career opportunities in the business of golf.

Faieta and Chang were coached by third-year UNCW assistant coach Phu Khine, who won the PWCC twice during her collegiate career in 2021 at TPC Sawgrass in Florida and 2023 at Shoal Creek in Alabama.
