Women's Golf Soars to Golfweek Fall Challenge Title

PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – The UNCW women's golf team opened the 2026 season with a first-place finish at the Golfweek Fall Challenge on Tuesday afternoon at the Caledonia Golf and Fish Club.

The Seahawks carded a 284-281-289=854 scorecard to edge Campbell by three strokes in the 23-team field. The Camels' Miah Rivas edged UNCW's Valencia Chang and Alexis Faieta for individual tournament honors.

The Seahawks authored 41 birdies over the three-day event, including 12 by Chang. UNCW's Minouche Rooijmans(Round 3 – Hole No. 8) and Dagmar Soerensen (Round 1 – Hole No. 8) both produced Eagles.

UNCW, who also won the Fall Challenge in 2024, next turns its attention north of the border when it travels to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, for the Canadian Collegiate from Sept. 20-22.
