Baseball: High Point (Fan Appreciation Day)

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Seahawks (26-20) host High Point (30-17) on Tuesday in another important RPI game for UNCW as the Coastal Athletic Association tournament approaches.

Tuesday is also Fan Appreciation Day, and fans attending can win prizes and receive giveaways.

UNCW sits in second place in the South Division, holding a two-game lead over Charleston, which earned a series win at Brooks Field last weekend. The RPI is used by the league to determine seedings, and the last two spots in the six-team tournament field are determined by the metric.

The Seahawks dropped their series with the Cougars following a 5-0 setback on Sunday. It was the first time the team was shut out this season.

High Point, meanwhile, is in second place in the Big South and dropped its own series last weekend to visiting Longwood.

Seahawk freshman Trey Williford continued to make his move to the weekend rotation a smooth one, as he fanned 11 in 6.2 innings in a win over Charleston.

JP Pennella enters the week third in the CAA with a .369 batting average, while Howie Rickett is fifth at .357.
