Baseball Preview: #10 NC State

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Seahawks carry a seven-game winning streak into Tuesday's game against nationally-ranked NC State. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Brooks Field.

UNCW is coming off a weekend sweep of conference foe Elon and sits at 14-6. Meanwhile, the Wolfpack earned a series win over visiting Boston College over the weekend to improve to 16-4. NC State is ranked as high as 10th in the national polls.

Bromley Thornton was recognized by the Coastal Athletic Association as the league's Pitcher of the Week on Monday. The junior tossed a complete game, one-hitter in the Elon series finale, an 11-0 win for the Seahawks. He allowed a one-out single in the second and that was all. Thornton walked one and struck out four.

Mason Hughes repeated as the league's player of the week by hitting .500 (7-14) with six runs scored and six knocked in. The sophomore paces the CAA with a .442 batting average.

UNCW returns to conference play on Friday with a 6 p.m. start at the College of Charleston.
