Women's Basketball Preview: Northeastern

CAA Tournament opens on Wednesday

WASHINGTON, D.C. – UNCW opens its Coastal Athletic Association postseason on Wednesday at 2 p.m. against Northeastern. The tournament is being held at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C.

The Seahawks and Huskies met in the conference season opener on Jan. 2, with UNCW holding off the Huskies for a 69-67 win at Trask Coliseum. UNCW used a balanced offense in the win, as five Seahawks finished in double-digit scoring.

Northeastern leads the all-time series, 25-13, but the Seahawks have won the last two games. In the conference tournament, though, NU has won all three meetings, including a 66-60 decision in 2024.

Kylah Silver has stepped up in the last five games, leading the Seahawks in scoring at 15.6 per outing, and is averaging 12.5 per game for the season.

The winner of Wednesday's game advances to the second round and will take on fifth-seed Monmouth.
