Women's Basketball Hosts CofC, NWGIS Day

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW wraps up a three-game homestand on Friday when it hosts conference-leading College of Charleston at 7 p.m.

The Seahawks (5-12, 1-5 CAA) dropped the first two legs of the homestand, falling to both Elon and Drexel. The Cougars, meanwhile, have bolted to a 6-0 start in Coastal Athletic Association play and own a 14-3 record overall and crafted a seven-game winning streak.

UNCW will need to keep an eye on CofC junior guard Taryn Barbot, who scoring at a 19.9 points per game clip this season. The Cougars pace the league in offense at 78.6 points per game and own a scoring margin of +19.1, also a league-leading total.

While the Seahawks will have their hands full, the Cougars need to limit Rori Cox, UNCW's leading scorer and conference-leader in steals. Cox has led the Seahawks in scoring in each of her last five games and ranks sixth in the CAA in scoring at 13.5 ppg. Cox also is averaging 2.8 steals and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Friday will also be National Women and Girls in Sports Day and the UNCW Athletics Department has mini clinics planned with fans and Seahawk women's programs. The festivities will be held in Hanover Hall.
