Snowden Highlights Impressive UNCW Awards List

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW junior and NCAA Championship participant Cameron Snowden has been named Swimmer of the Year by the Coastal Athletic Association, highlighting an impressive honors haul for the Seahawks.

Joining Snowden with postseason honors were Rookie Swimmers of the Year Maeren McGonigal and Ian Frazer and Diver of the Year Ethan Badrian. Bobby Guntoro was honored as Men's Coach of the Year and Gavrillo Blijden was recognized as the Diving Coach of the Year.

Snowden advanced to the NCAA Championships with a qualifying time in the 100 Butterfly and competed in the 50 Freestyle while at the meet. Her time of 51.57 seconds in the 100 Fly was both a program and conference record.

At the conference championships, Snowden won both the 50 Free and 100 Fly.

McGonigal, meanwhile, was the conference champion in the 200 IM and the 100 and 200 Backstrokes. She was honored as the Swimmer of the Meet for her impressive showing.

On the men's side, Frazer swam in the championship finals in three events and earned silver in the 400 IM and bronze in the 200 Back.

Badrian swept the diving events for the second time in his career.

Guntoro helped the Seahawk men to their fourth straight conference title. Blijden guided Badrian to a sweep of the diving events while Nic Newis posted a pair of runner-up finishes on each board.
