Softball Preview: #16 Duke

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW softball team carries its six-game win streak into Wednesday's 5 p.m. match-up against No. 16 ranked Duke at Boseman Field. 

The Seahawks (21-12) and Blue Devils (25-12) will meet for the third straight year after playing a pair of doubleheaders in Wilmington (2023) and Durham (2024). Duke, who has won its previous four games entering Wednesday, has claimed all four all-time meetings vs. UNCW.

UNCW has outscored its opponents 53-6 over its six-game win streak, including a 28-2 margin last weekend at Monmouth. The Seahawks matched a program record for total runs scored in a CAA series, last set in 2007 in a three-game slate against former league member George Mason.

The active offense has produced 12 games with double-digit hits, highlighted by a pair of 16-hit performances. On the basepaths, the Seahawks are first in the nation in steals per game (3.69) and second in the land in overall steals (122).

Two-time CAA Pitcher of the Week Makayla Huddleston leads the second-lowest staff ERA (2.86) in the CAA. The Michigan State transfer tossed a no-hitter and has limited opponents to one hit and zero runs over her last three starts, all wins.

The Seahawks resume CAA play this weekend vs. Delaware from Apr. 4-6.
