Perfect Game Nets CAA Honors For Bagwell

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW freshman Cam Bagwell tossed the program's second perfect game all-time on Sunday at Campbell and was named Pitcher of the Week by the Coastal Athletic Association on Monday.

Bagwell needed just 80 pitches in the run-rule 12-0 victory to improve to 4-0 on the season and drop his earned run average to a team-leading 2.02.

The righthander recorded 12 fly ball outs, six ground ball outs and three strikeouts. He went to a 3-ball count just once on the afternoon.

UNCW's last no-hitter was in 1995 as John Babson turned the trick in a 2-0 win over Yale. The last perfect game was by Jim Sanders in 1968 against California Pennsylvania, a 1-0 win. Both games were at Brooks Field.

The Seahawks open a homestand on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. start against Charleston Southern.
