WBB Fan Guide: at Drexel

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW travels to Drexel to take on the Dragons at Daskalakis Athletic Center on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Seahawks, who are in a three-way tie for fifth place in the CAA standings, will look to defeat the second-place Dragons for the first time since 2011.

After building a 16-point lead early in the second quarter, UNCW women's basketball went cold offensively in the third, falling to Delaware, 72-67, in Coastal Athletic Association action at Bob Carpenter Center on Friday night. Delaware outscored UNCW in the second half, 42-28. The Blue Hens finished with a 36-20 advantage in points in the paint and forced 20 turnovers. Delaware also held UNCW without a field goal for the final 6:11 of the third quarter. With the loss, UNCW slipped from third to tied for fifth in the CAA standings.

UNCW had a balanced scoring attack against the Blue Hens on Friday night. Jania Hall led the Seahawks with 17 points in 26 minutes off the bench. Ali Zelaya added 16 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks. Tia Dobson finished with 11 points and four assists, and Taylor Henderson chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.

Graduate Evan Miller broke the program's 14-year career games played record in the first quarter against Delaware. Miller entered the game with 5:15 left in the quarter to surpass the record of 126 games held by Treasure Johnson and Martha White (both played at UNCW from 2007-11). Miller also moved into the program's top five for career minutes played in the game, passing Tracy Morgan (2000-04). The graduate guard is 92 points away from 1,000 and averages 9.6 points per game during the 2024-25 season.

With a team-high 17 points vs Delaware, Hall needs 16 points to reach 1,000 for her career. Hall was the CAA's Sixth Player of the Year at Monmouth last season and moved to the bench 10 games ago for UNCW. Since the switch, Hall has scored in double figures six times. Hall averages 9.8 points per game this season. She also needs 17 minutes to reach 3,000 for her career.

Zelaya leads UNCW in scoring with 11.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. The graduate transfer has recorded seven double-doubles this season. She ranks seventh in the CAA with 15.3 points per game in conference play. She is among the nation's elite in four statistical categories. Zelaya is 12th in defensive rebounds per game (7.7), 13th in blocks (50), 22nd in blocks per game (2.17), and 33rd in rebounds (215). She leads the CAA in blocks, rebounds, and defensive rebounds per game.

Henderson averages 11.5 and 6.3 points per contest, ranking second in both categories for the Seahawks.  Henderson has scored 689 points in 52 career games (13.3 PPG).
