Aquahawks Claim Six Golds As Men Remain In Lead

HAMPTON, Va. – UNCW continued to collect gold medals as the Seahawks combined for six event wins and broke a pair of all-time Coastal Athletic Association records and one school mark on Friday at the conference championships at the Hampton Aquaplex.

The Seahawk men lead Delaware by 28.5 points (586.5-558), but the women dropped back to second as William & Mary grabbed a 34-point lead following Friday's finals session.

Cameron Snowden posted a time of 51.78 seconds, setting both school and CAA records for the 100 Fly. For Snowden, it was her second championship win in the event.

In the 400 IM, William Carrico, who defended his title in the event, also broke a pair of records at the school and conference level when he clocked in at 3:44.51. Joining Carrico on the podium for the event were Ian Fraser and Aidan Duffy placing second and third, respectively.

Shaw Satterfield delivered a win in the 200 Free when he topped the field with a mark of 1:35.58. He joined teammate Jacob Duracinsky as the only Seahawks to win the event in the meet's history.

UNCW posted a sweep of the 100 Back event. Maeren McGonigal set a UNCW standard when she fashioned a time of 53.62 seconds. In the men's race, Jack VanHowe earned gold with his time of 46.86.

Junior Ethan Badrian earned UNCW's sixth gold medal of the session, winning his third straight 3-meter board title with a score of 348.05 points.

Also medaling on the evening for UNCW were Dave Fitch (Bronze, 100 Fly), Katie Knorr (Silver, 400 IM), Lauren Sharp (Bronze, 400 IM), Emily Waite (Bronze, 200 Free), Nick Newis (Silver, 3-meter).

The championship wraps up on Saturday with swimming prelims beginning at 10 a.m.
