Men's Hoops Signs Elliott, Maddox

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's basketball program has signed forward Spencer Elliott and guard Treyvon Maddox for the 2026-27 campaign.

Elliott joins the Seahawks after stints at Charlotte and Tulane while Maddox comes to the reigning Coastal Athletic Association regular season champions from Miami (Fla.).

A 6-10, 225-pound forward, Elliott appeared in 34 games with 17 starts for the 49ers in 2025-26. The Atlanta, Ga., native averaged 4.1 points and 2.6 rebounds across 17.1 minutes per game.

Prior to Charlotte, Elliott spent two seasons with the Green Wave, where he played 16 games in 2024-25 after redshirting his true freshman season.

"We are excited to welcome Spencer into the Seahawk family. His character and work ethic make him a perfect fit with the culture of our program," said UNCW head coach Takayo Siddle. "His combination of size and athleticism will make him a critical part of our success next season.

A three-star recruit out of St. Pius X High School in Atlanta, Elliot was the 20th-ranked player in the state of Georgia by 247Sports in the Class of 2023. He helped St. Pius X to a 24-6 record and the Class 6A State Elite Eight in 2023 and was named the Region 4 Player of the Year as a senior.

Maddox joins the Seahawks after redshirting last season at Miami. A consensus four-star prospect by On3, 247Sports and ESPN out of Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Fla., Maddox piloted the Pioneers to a 17-10 record with averages of 10.1 points and 3.8 rebounds.

The 6-7, 215-pound wing reached double figures 12 times, shooting 56 percent from the floor, including a 44 percent clip from the three-point line in 2024-25 at Oak Ridge. Maddox, a Beckley, W. Va., native, fashioned 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting against Bishop McNamara on Dec. 19, 2024.

"Trey comes to UNCW from a basketball family. He is an exceptional athlete with terrific basketball feel," said Siddle. "He has changed his body by adding 30 pounds of muscle to his frame. This young man will make an immediate impact on our program."

The pair join six returning Seahawks, including 2025-26 All-CAA First Teamer Patrick Wessler, 2024-25 All-CAA Third Teamer CJ Luster IIJahnathan Lamothe, Gavin Walsh, Matija Prodanovic and Makel Smith.
