Seahawks Strengthen Backcourt with Two Additions

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's basketball program further strengthened its transfer class with the additions of guards Xavier Brown and William Kermoury ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Brown appeared in three games at South Florida in 2025-26 after spending the previous three seasons at James Madison. Kermoury joins the Seahawks after three years at Coastal Athletic Association opponent Northeastern.

The duo joins a transfer class that includes Spencer Elliott (Charlotte), Treyvon Maddox (Miami), Tyler Nelson (Navy) and Tahlan Pettway (Western Carolina) to the reigning CAA regular season champions.

Brown, who played 36 minutes for the Bulls before missing the remainder of the season due to injury, averaged 10.7 points and 2.7 assists for the Bulldogs in 2024-25 across 32 games, including 30 starts.

"Xavier will bring a veteran, winning presence to our program and locker room that will have a positive impact," said UNCW seventh-year head coach Takayo Siddle. "Xavier's character, passion for the game, and personality will be infectious not only within our team, but within the community as well."

A Williamsburg, Va., native, Brown has totaled 652 points and 196 assists in 98 career games with 47 starts between USF and JMU. The 6-2, 183-pound guard has connected on 34.1 percent (112-of-328) from three-point range in his four-year career.

Kermoury paced the Huskies last season with 13.1 ppg while leading the league in three-point percentage at a 40.2 percent (74-of-184) clip, which was good for 39th in the country.

"William was one of the most efficient scorers in league play last year, and we are excited to continue to build on that," said Siddle. "William's ability to score, along with his feel for the game, makes us excited to coach him this upcoming season."

The 6-5 guard from Stockholm, Sweden, achieved double-figure scoring in 18 appearances, including five 20-point efforts and a career-high 31 points against Elon, with a career-high seven trifectas that was topped only by a career-high 36 points against Charleston, in which he connected on six three-pointers.
