UNCW began the 2025-26 campaign with an 82-63 setback at East Carolina on Monday, Nov. 3. After a slow start in the first quarter, the Seahawks ended the first half with a 35-34 lead. 

East Carolina stormed back in the third quarter, outscoring UNCW 25-14 in the period to regain a 10-point lead. The Pirates started the fourth quarter on a 10-2 run to secure the victory.

After missing all of the 2024-25 season with an injury, redshirt sophomore guard Kylah Silver returned to the court in her hometown.

Silver filled the stat sheet with 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, all team-highs against East Carolina. After not playing in a game for over 600 days, Silver matched her career-high with 38 minutes played. 

Freshman forward and Durham native Icyss Storm returns to her hometown for her second career game. In her collegiate debut at East Carolina on Monday, Storm made her first career start and scored 13 points while hauling in six rebounds in 35 minutes of action. 

Storm scored the most points by a UNCW freshman in a collegiate debut since Silver tallied 17 in 2023.

Rori Cox, a graduate guard, also scored in double figures for the Seahawks against East Carolina. Cox scored all 10 of her points in the second half and recorded six rebounds and four assists.

SERIES HISTORY

Since 1978, UNCW has held a slight 7-5 advantage in the all-time series. 

LAST MEETING

The two teams last met in Wilmington on Dec. 21, 2023. Despite UNCW scoring 24 points in the fourth quarter, N.C. Central prevailed 70-65. Silver recorded the first double-double of her career, pouring in 17 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in 31 minutes of action.
