Women's Basketball Falls Late To Campbell

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Gianni Boone's layup with 40 seconds left in the contest proved to be the difference as Campbell edged UNCW, 54-52, in Coastal Athletic Association women's basketball action on Sunday at Trask Coliseum.

The Camels pushed their record to 17-9 overall and 10-3 in the conference following a sweep of the season series. The Seahawks, meanwhile, dropped to 6-18 and 2-11.

Rori Cox led UNCW in scoring for the 12th time this season, finishing with 14 points. Kylah Silver added 10 points and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds.

UNCW built a 30-22 halftime lead with all Silver's points coming in that half.

Boone converted a layup with 40 ticks left following a Seahawk turnover for a 51-49 lead. 

Boone was one of three Camels to score in double digits, finishing with 11 points.

The Seahawks visit Stony Brook on Feb. 20 for a 6:31 p.m. start. The start time reflects the area code of the school.
