Carrico Honored As CAA Swimmer of the Week

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW junior William Carrico was honored by the Coastal Athletic Association on Wednesday as the league's swimmer of the week following an impressive effort against Georgia in the season opener.

Carrico, who was the CAA Most Outstanding Performer at the conference championships last winter, posted a pair of second-place finishes in the 100 and 200 Breastrokes against the powerful Bulldogs. He also swam on a pair of third-place relays.

In the 100, Carrico clocked in with a time of 55.63 seconds and later touched the wall in a time of 2:02.55 in the 200. Both times are the fastest in the conference in the early going. His time in the 200 ranks him 11th nationally among mid-major programs.

The Seahawks return to action this weekend when they host Gardner-Webb on Oct. 10-11. The meet gets underway on the 10th at 4 p.m. and resumes on Saturday at 10 a.m. This weekend will also be Alumni Weekend for the Seahawk swimming and diving program.
