LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Eight UNCW runners set personal records at the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association Cross Country Championships at Ocean County Park on Friday morning.
The men's team finished in ninth place with 266 points, finishing ahead of Hampton and North Carolina A&T. The women's team finished in 12th place with 333 points.
Hofstra claimed the men's team championship with 44 points and Elon captured the women's team championship with 28 points.
Griffin Wald, a junior, paced the men's team in the 8K race, running 25 minutes, 28.4 seconds to finish 52nd out of 104 runners.
Seniors Taylor Anthony and Sam Bland were the next highest finishers for the men's team. Anthony ran 25:41.00 to finish 59th, while Bland clocked a time of 25:50.80 to finish 63rd.
The women's team had six runners set new personal records.
Freshman Jalyn DeLeon led the way with a career-best time of 23:05.20 to finish 73rd out of 118 runners in the women's 6K race.
DeLeon shattered her previous best result of 23:50.31 in her 6K debut on Oct. 3.
Demi Nicholas, also a freshman, placed 88th for the women's team with a time of 23:38.40, and junior Claire Carmichael took 92nd, running a career-best 23:45.20.
