The 4x400-meter relay team of Janiyah Fields, Nasiah Ferguson, Ella Jane Osada and Mackenzie Townsend captured first place and tied for fifth in program history with a time of 3 minutes, 50.82 seconds in the final event of the night, falling just short of the all-time meet record of 3:49.54.
"That's what I'm "HAWK'in about," head coach Jeff Klaves said. "Our 4x400 closed out the meet, truly representing our championship mentality that we're trying to create and cultivate within our team. This year our mission statement is to "Leave No Doubt". We left it all on the track. We are using these early meets to learn how to win and how to execute so we can do it during championship moments."
Summer Herbertson finished 14th in the mile, posting her collegiate-best time of 5:07.42. Herbertson's time became the sixth-fastest in program history. Herbertson was originally seventh in the program record book with a previous best of 5:10.29 in the mile at the Darius Dixon Invitational in Lynchburg on Feb. 10, 2024.
"Congrats to Summer for moving up to number six on the program's all-time top 10 list. Summer had a gritty performance. She's doing a great job competing when given the opportunity. We look forward to Summer consistently racing at this level, so she can continue to keep getting to where she wants to get in the miles of the races that she's doing right now."

"Our newcomers are doing a great job adjusting to the college season. I'm seeing them learn and progress at a fast rate with their effort and intent meet to meet. It's only a matter of time until their technical models catch up to the intent that they're bringing to see the results come in the distances and in the marks they're looking for. The future is bright for Seahawk nation!"
"Our multis did a great job adjusting to the adversity the snow brought this week. Due to the weather, we made a change to bring them up to do some individual events and Megan came away with a collegiate best in the high jump. The multi's will took to travel to a late addition combined events meet at Roanoake next week, so stay tuned to watch them open up next Friday in the women's penthalon."
