WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW women's basketball travels to Campbell on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest. UNCW won the first meeting this season at Trask Coliseum on Jan. 3, 67-61. The Seahawks are searching for their best start in CAA play since the 2018-19 season. UNCW is also striving to remain unbeaten in conference road games this season. UNCW won its CAA road opener, 51-48, against Northeastern last Sunday. The Seahawks held Northeastern scoreless during the final five minutes of play. The Seahawks outrebounded the Huskies, 40-35, and outscored Northeastern, 17-5, in bench points.
The Seahawks also snapped an eight-game winless streak against Northeastern, avenging three losses to the Huskies a season ago. UNCW overcame a nine-point deficit in the first quarter to earn its first win in Boston since 2013. Jania Hall led the way with 13 points and six rebounds off the bench, eclipsing 900 career points in the contest. Ali Zelaya finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, and three steals. In her third career start, Tia Dobson matched her career-high with 11 points in the contest.
Zelaya leads the CAA and rounds out the nation's top 15 with 7.4 defensive rebounds per game. Zelaya is among the nation's top 25 with 34 blocks and 2.13 blocks per game.

Since 1974, Campbell has led the all-time series 34-19. UNCW is searching for its first win in Buies Creek since 2010. The Seahawks have won just six of the meetings played at Campbell. Head Coach Nicole Woods is 2-1 all-time against Campbell.

Zelaya scored a game-high 19 points and hauled in seven rebounds, while Taylor Henderson added 16 points and nine rebounds as UNCW never trailed and held on late to defeat Campbell, 67-61, in the CAA opener. Hall chipped in with seven points and four assists, Kate Hollifield filled up the stat sheet with six points, seven rebounds, and four assists, and Isis Fitch added six points in 10 minutes.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING CAMELS
After the loss to UNCW, Campbell fell to Charleston on the road, 78-63. The Camels rebounded with a 72-42 win at home against Hampton on Sunday for their first CAA win in 2024-25. Campbell is unbeaten at home this season (6-0). Ciara Alexander led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Gianni Boone added 11 points and five rebounds. Boone had a team-high 14 points against UNCW, while Alexander tallied 12. Gemma Núñez leads the CAA with 81 assists and 5.4 assists per game. Núñez had eight points, six rebounds, and nine assists in the first meeting against UNCW.
LOOKING AHEAD
UNCW returns to Trask Coliseum on Sunday to host Monmouth for Greek Night at 1 p.m. Monmouth leads the all-time series, 2-1. The Hawks defeated the Seahawks a season ago in West Long Branch, N.J., 65-53.
