Anthony, McCusker Lead Seahawks in Cary

CARY, North Carolina – UNCW's Taylor Anthony and Carly McCusker paced the Seahawks' men's and women's cross country teams at the adidas XC Challenge on Friday afternoon at the WakeMed Soccer Park.

Anthony produced a 19:58.3 time in the men's 6K for UNCW who finished in 13th out of 14 programs on the men's side.

McCusker, meanwhile, clocked a 19:29.1 time in the women's 5K to place 93rd among 163 runners as the Seahawk women placed 12th out of 14.

Liberty topped the men's field followed by host NC State. The Wolfpack edged Clemson for the women's title.

Other programs in the team field included Wake Forest, George Mason, Clemson, East Carolina, Elon, Richmond, UNC Greensboro, N.C. Central, Lynchburg, High Point, Barton College as well as women's-only school entrees Chowan and Shaw.

Both Seahawk cross country programs resume their season on Friday, Oct. 4, at the ECU Pirate Invitational.
