Braves Tab Shafer In MLB Draft

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW baseball alum Jacob Shafer became UNCW's third player to be selected in the Major League Baseball Draft in round 17 on Tuesday.

Shafer joins Luke Craig and RJ Sales, who were selected in the seventh and 10th rounds of the draft.

In his final season with the Seahawks, Shafer made a career-high-tying 16 starts and finished with a 4-6 record. He finished his tenure at UNCW with a 12-12 record.

With three players selected in the draft, the program raised its total number of draftees to 95 since 1965.
