Softball Preview: Hofstra

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW softball team looks to build on its program-best start to Coastal Athletic Association play as it hosts defending league champion Hofstra for a three-game set at Boseman Field this weekend.

The Seahawks (17-12, 8-1 CAA) and Pride (7-17, 5-4 CAA) will battle on Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (4 p.m.) and Sunday (Noon) over the Easter weekend. It will be Hofstra's first trip to Wilmington since the 2019 season.

All three games will be streamed on FloSoftball with live stats available as usual on UNCWStats.com.

UNCW won its first eight conference games for the first time in school history and matched its best nine game start through three CAA series with the 2017 Seahawks. UNCW has swept Hampton and Elon and took two of three at Towson one week ago.

The Pride, meanwhile, have two series wins over the Tigers and Drexel. Hofstra, who is currently in sixth place in the league standings, looks to right its ship after dropping five of its last six contests.

The Seahawks are the only team in the CAA to have a team batting average of at least .300 while pitching to a sub-1.00 ERA in league games.

UNCW next has a midweek contest at nationally-ranked North Carolina on Wednesday.
