Softball Preview: Elon

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Coastal Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week Skylar Stockton and the UNCW softball team host Elon for a three-game set in the Seahawks' CAA home opener this weekend at Boseman Field.

UNCW (12-9, 3-0 CAA) will battle the Phoenix (8-15, 3-0 CAA) on Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (4 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.). All games will be streamed on FloSoftball with live stats on UNCWStats.com.

Stockton notched the first CAA weekly award of her career after batting .462 (6-of-13) with a home run and four RBI to help the Seahawks to a 3-1 week that included a sweep of Hampton last weekend.

UNCW has once again road the right arms of juniors Kara Hammock (2.01 ERA) and Emily Winstead (1.34 ERA) to a solid start. The duo have combined for seven complete games and five shutouts across 17 starts.

Elon also started its conference slate strong with a sweep of North Carolina A&T. Utility sophomore Mauri Murray owns a team-high .350 average and 1.085 on-base plus slugging percentage.

The Seahawks follow the weekend with a mid-week contest at nationally-ranked Duke on Wednesday in Durham.
