Henderson Garners CAA All-Rookie Accolades

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW redshirt freshman Taylor Henderson has been named to the 2023-24 Coastal Athletic Association Women's Basketball All-Rookie team as voted on by the league's 14 head coaches.

Henderson, who is the CAA's second-leading first-year scorer, averaged 14.7 ppg across 28 starts. The Charlotte, N.C., native collected 19 double-digit scoring efforts and reached 20 or more points a team-high seven times.

"Words can't express how happy I am for Taylor," said UNCW Head Coach Nicole Woods. "She's worked extremely hard and battled through two years of injuries to get to this place. This is just the beginning for her! We are so proud of her!"

Henderson blossomed under the tutelage of Woods to become UNCW's first CAA All-Rookie performer since Brie Mobley in 2013-14.

The 5-11 guard established a career-high of 26 points vs. Coastal Carolina in her fifth career game and then equaled the total at Stony Brook in the first weekend of league play in January.

In addition to her scoring steadiness, Henderson leads the Seahawks and ranks sixth in the CAA with 58 steals this year. She has collected three or more steals in nine games, highlighted by a career-best six swipes at Hofstra in the CAA opener.

A two-time CAA Rookie of the Week, Henderson also fashioned a pair of double-doubles against N.C. Central (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Towson (23 points, 11 rebounds).

The Seahawks tip off the 2024 CAA Championships presented by Primis against Northeastern on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. The contest will be streamed on FloHoops.
