Snowden, Russell Highlight Opening Day Of Gamecock Invitational

McGonigal sets UNCW 200 IM record

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Cameron Snowden and Mac Russell finished fifth overall in the women's and men's 50 Freestyle, respectively, to highlight the opening day of the Gamecock Invitational for UNCW on Wednesday.

The Seahawks sit in fourth place overall in both meets.

Snowden clocked in with a time of 23.08 seconds while Russell touched the wall at 20.03 seconds.

Maeren McGonigal, a freshman, posted a school-record with a time of 2:01.59 in the 200 IM.

UNCW added a pair of eighth-place finishes in the women's 200 Freestyle and 400 Medley Relays while the men were seventh in the 200 Free Relay and eighth in the 400 Medley.

The meet continues Thursday with the preliminaries at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.

UNCW's Diving program opens competition today at the Patriot Invitational. The women's 3-meter and the men's 1-meter begin at 1 p.m.
