Swimming & Diving Post Another Strong Day

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Cameron Snowden and Jack VanHowe posted top-three finishes and the men's 800 Freestyle Relay took second to highlight UNCW's performances on Thursday at the Gamecock Invitational.

The Seahawk men are in fourth place through two days while the women are fifth.

Snowden took second with a time of 53.33 seconds in the finals of the 50 Free.

VanHowe, meanwhile, was third in the 100 Backstroke when he recorded a time of 46.98.

Nathan Jao, Shaw Satterfield, William Carrico and Jacob Duracinsky combined for a time of 6:27.95 in the 800 Free Relay and finished second.

Gil Shaw added a fourth-place finish in the 100 Breast (1:01.64). In the men's race, Dylan Citta (54.13) and Mason Hetzell (54.88) finished fourth and seventh, respectively.

William Carrico and Satterfield added top-8 finishes in the 400 IM and 200 Free, respectively. Carrico clocked in at 3:50.11 and Satterfield fashioned a time of 1:37.90.

In Diving, the Seahawks are competing at the Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Va. Junior Ethan Badrian won the men's 1-meer board with a score of 311.95 and Nic Newis was eighth with 258.20 points. On the 3-meter board, Makenna Sharpe placed fourth with 267.20 points and Laura Mehta, a senior, was fifth with 256.75 points.

The Gamecock Invitational concludes on Friday with the preliminaries starting at 10 a.m.
