Isley, Levy Partake in Patriot All-America

WILMINGTON, North Carolina -- UNCW's Walker Isley and Victoria Levy competed among the nation's top collegiate golfers last weekend at the 2023 Patriot All-America Invitational at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
 
Isley made his second straight appearance at the tournament while Levy debuted at the event that honored military heroes. The three-round, 54-hole event was staged by the combined efforts of the Arizona Golf Association, the Golf Coaches Association of America and the West Valley Mavericks in conjunction with the tournament's beneficiary, the Folds of Honor Foundation.
 
Isley and Levy, along with the 220 other golfers, had the opportunity to visit Luke Air Force Base, the training center for the nation's F-16 and F-35 fighter pilots. They met with Brigadier General Jason M. Rueschhoff, fighter pilots, and crew, and toured the base.
 
Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that helps provide educational scholarships for the families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders, identified a fallen soldier or first responder to be honored throughout play. The soldier's name was embroidered on golf bags the players used throughout the weekend. The bags will then be auctioned off to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation.
 
Levy sponsored Staff Sergeant Donald C. May, Jr., a 31-year-old member of the United States Marine Corps, who was killed in action in March 2003.
 
Isley, meanwhile, represented Police Officer Bryan J. Durman, who was killed in a hit-and-run in April 2010. Before joining the police force, Durman was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force and served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
