Seahawk Bounce Delaware Before Sold-Out Trask Coliseum

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Trazarien White's game-high 19 points led UNCW on Sunday to a 79-74 win over visiting Delaware at a sold-out Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks evened their record at 2-2 in the Coastal Athletic Association while improving to 11-6 overall. The Blue Hens, meanwhile, dropped to 2-2 in the conference and 10-7 on the season.

White was joined in double figures by Shykeim Phillips with 17 and KJ Jenkins added 13 off the bench. White added a team-leading eight rebounds.

Jyare Davis fashioned a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Blue Hens, who landed four in double-digit scoring. Gerald Drumgoole led UD with 16 points.

Delaware grabbed its only lead of the second half on a dunk by Niels Lane with 9:21 remaining. But back-to-back three-pointers from Eric Van Der Heijden and Shemar Rathan-Mayes highlighted a 9-0 burst by the Seahawks, who held a 66-59 lead with 6:57 remaining. UNCW would never lose the lead from there.

The Seahawks built a 38-36 lead at the intermission behind 10 points from Jenkins. The senior guard knocked down a pair of threes late. All 10 points came during a 3:50 stretch with his second three tying the game at 34-all with 3:03 left in the half.

The Seahawks visit Elon on Jan. 18 for a 7 p.m. start at the Schar Center.
