White Leads UNCW To Third Straight Win

ELON, N.C. – Trazarien White scored a game-high 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as UNCW knocked off host Elon, 82-70, on Thursday in Coastal Athletic Association basketball action at the Schar Center.

With the win, UNCW's third straight victory, the Seahawks improved to 12-5 overall and 3-2 in the CAA. Elon, meanwhile, dipped to 8-10 and 1-4 in the league with its third consecutive setback.

White, who scored 30 or more points for the second time this season, notched his 10th career double-double with 11 rebounds. He added a team-leading six assists, tying his career high.

KJ Jenkins added a season-high 18 points and Shykeim Phillips added 15.

TK Simpkins and LA Pratt scored 16 points apiece to lead Elon.

Led by 18 points from White, on 8-of-8 shooting from the field, the Seahawks led by 19 points, 46-27, at the half. UNCW shot a season-best 65% from the floor, including 53% from three-point range.

The Seahawks host the College of Charleston on Jan. 20 in a 6 p.m. start at Trask Coliseum. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sportsnet.

Notes: Jenkins tied his career-high with five three-pointers made and surpassed the 1,000 career-point mark with a three-pointer in the second half … UNCW's bench outscored Elon, 26-11.
