Volleyhawks Power Past Visiting Aggies

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Caitlyn Callahan and Katie Lanz combined for 22 kills as UNCW rolled past visiting North Carolina A&T (25-17, 25-10, 25-16) on Saturday in the Coastal Athletic Association opener for both programs at Hanover Hall.

The Seahawks ran their record to 4-7 on the season while the Aggies fell to 2-7 overall and have dropped their last two outings.

UNCW posted the third-highest hitting average in a three-set match at .404 in program history. The Seahawks hit a lofty .567 in a second-set win and were 11-11 in sideouts.

Callahan and Lanz had 11 kills apiece while Emily Hanlon added seven without an error and Sarah Thompson had six kills of her own. Jady Barry had match-high honors with 14 digs for the Seahawks.

Naiya Sawtelle led the Aggies with six kills and added six digs.

UNCW's 13 aces were the most since the 2020 season when the Seahawks totaled 13 in a loss at Clemson.

The series concludes on Sunday with a 2 p.m. start at Hanover Hall.
