Volleyball Falls To NIU In Five

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Alexa Brezault had 13 kills and Sarah Thompson added 10, but it wasn't enough as Northern Illinois clipped UNCW in five sets (25-23, 22-25, 16-25, 25-18, 15-11) on Friday at the Wildcat Classic hosted by Davidson.

The Huskies earned their first win of the season to improve to 1-3 while the Seahawks, who dropped their first road match of the season, dipped to 1-3.

Brezault and Thompson, both sophomores, recorded career highs with those 13 and 10 kills, respectively.

Senior Caitlyn Callahan finished with nine kills and chipped in a match-high tying four blocks.

Defensively, Charlotte Cronister, a graduate student, had 19 digs and a team-high five aces.

NIU was led by Nikolette Nedic with 17 kills.

The Seahawks play twice on Saturday starting with a 10 a.m. start against Queens and concluding with a 6 p.m. first-serve against host Davidson. That match will be streamed on ESPN+. A link to that broadcast can be found at UNCWSports.com/coverage.
