Volleyhawks Sweep Blue Hose For First Win

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Senior Caitlyn Callahan and Hannah Forbes combined for 23 kills as UNCW rolled past Presbyterian in three sets (25-20, 25-23, 25-20) to close out the UNCW Hampton Inn University Invitational on Saturday at Hanover Hall.

The win improved UNCW's record to 1-2 on the young season while the Blue Hose slipped to 0-3.

Callahan fashioned 12 kills and four blocks while Forbes banged out 11 kills and added eight digs.

Belle Schall and Charlotte Cronister chipped in 25 assists and 12 digs, respectively.

The Seahawks held Presbyterian to a .088 hitting average and finished with a 7-4 advantage in blocks.

Kasey Battle led PC with 10 kills.

UNCW dropped a 3-0 decision to Stetson earlier in the day on Saturday. Fordham earned the tournament championship with a 3-0 record after clipping Stetson, 3-2.
UNCW competes in the Wildcat Classic, hosted by Davidson, next weekend and opens the three-match road swing against Northern Illinois on Friday.
