Volleyball Falls In Opener To Fordham

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW fell in three sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-19) to visiting Fordham in the season-opener for both teams in the UNCW Hampton Inn University Invitational at Hanover Hall.

Fordham's Whitley Moody led all players with 17 kills as the Rams hit .284 on the evening. Joining her in double-digit kills was Audrey Brown with 12.

Sarah Thompson, a sophomore, paced the Seahawks with a career-high nine kills. Hannah Forbes added eight.

Whitney Woodrow doled out 35 assists for the Rams.

The UNCW Hampton Inn University Invitational continues Saturday with Fordham and Presbyterian starting at 9 a.m. followed by the Seahawks and Stetson at noon. UNCW closes out the weekend with a 6 p.m. start that evening.
