Badrian Takes CAA Diver of the Year Honors

Guntoro, Greenleaf honored as swimming and diving coaches of the year

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW freshman diver Ethan Badrian was named Diver of the Year in the Colonial Athletic Association while Head Coach Bobby Guntoro and Diving Coach George Greenleaf were honored as Men's Coaches of the Year after helping the Seahawks to their second straight conference championship.

Badrian swept both boards at the CAA Championships and was named Championship Diver of the Meet. On the 1-meter board, Badrian posted a winning score of 343.15 points. On the 3-meter, he fashioned a total of 356.15 points in rounding out the sweep. That point total was the most at the event since the 2016 season. In the preliminaries, Badrian's score of 364.65 points placed him second on the program's record list.

Guntoro, who also was the women's swimming coach of the year, guided the Seahawks to a second straight conference title and 15th overall. At the championships, Jacob Duracinsky (100 & @00 Free), Sam O'Brien (500 & 1650 Free) and Aidan Duffey (400 IM) earned individual gold medals. UNCW's 200, 400 and 800 Free Relays were also gold medal honorees. UNCW earned 18 All-CAA swimming honors with top-three finishes.

Greenleaf helped Badrian and Nic Newis to All-CAA honors on both boards. Badrian earned gold twice and Newis earned silver on the 1-meter and bronze on the 3-meter.
