Seahawks in Second at CAA Championships

SOUTHPORT, North Carolina – UNCW's Phu Khine fashioned a three-under-par 69 to top the individual leaderboard after the first round of the 2023 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championships at The Reserve Course at the St. James Plantation on Friday.

The Seahawks, who posted a 296 team score, sit in second place, one stroke behind Charleston. Senior Mallory Fobes (72) holds a share of third place while sophomore Victoria Levy (75) is tied for sixth.

Khine's mark matches the second-lowest round by a UNCW Individual at the CAA Championships, one-off Emily Klein's four-under-par 68 score in the third round of the 2008 Championships.

The Seahawks combined for 52 holes of par or better while their 13 birdies were the second-most in the nine-team field.

The Seahawks are scheduled to tee off at 10:10 a.m.in Saturday's second round.
