Hokies Blank Seahawks In Women's Tennis

Box Score WILMINGTON, North Carolina  – Visiting Virginia Tech won the doubles point and then swept all six singles matches to blank UNCW, 7-0, in women's tennis action early Saturday at the UNCW Courts.
 
The Hokies snapped a four-match losing streak to improve to 9-5 this spring. The Seahawks suffered their first home loss of the season and stand 6-5 this year.
 
Virginia Tech won the first two matches off the court in doubles and clinched the point when the No. 3 tandem of Ozlem Uslu and Tamara Barad Itzhaki shut out Stela Joksimovic and Meredith Taylor, 6-0.
 
The Hokies then continued to roll, claiming the singles matches at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 1 to close out the match.
 
The Seahawks are back at their home courts on Thursday when they make their Colonial Athletic Association debut against rival Elon at 2 p.m.
