Henderson Captures CAA Rookie of the Week

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Redshirt freshman guard Taylor Henderson has earned Coastal Athletic Association Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week honors as announced by the conference on Monday.

Henderson, a native of Charlotte, N.C., averaged 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals while helping the Seahawks to a split at Winthrop and Iowa State last week.

"Taylor has been a great addition to our team. She's finally getting her basketball legs back and will get better and better every game," said UNCW Head Coach Nicole Woods. "I'm proud of the way she has incorporated coaching into her game and given us the offensive spark we need. The sky is the limit for her."

Henderson contributed 11 points, a season-high eight rebounds along with a pair of assists and two steals to help the Seahawks earn a 66-58 overtime win at Winthrop.

The 5-11 guard achieved her third straight double-digit scoring effort, and fourth of her career, with a 12-point effort on Sunday at Iowa State.

Henderson is the first Seahawk to earn CAA Rookie of the Week honors since March 2021.
